Iowa tops Penn State,Tech blasts Oklahoma State,Bama survives Lsu,will meet Florida in Sec championship game

November 9, 2008 by jobrofan100

Week 11 of the College Football season is in the books and a dream for PSU has died after a upset in Iowa City. Texas Tech proved their selves again crushing Oklahoma State 56-20 in Lubbock and Bama survives LSU in a OTthriller in Baton Rouge to secure the top spot.

Early games: Michigan vs Minnesota for the little Brown Jug, Michigan played their best game all season long when they kept Minnesota to kick only two Fields as Michigan retained the brown jug in a 29-6 win over the Gophers. Michigan is now 3-7 on the season and Minnesota has fallen two weeks in  row now a 7-3 record and have Wisconsin and Iowa on the schedule to end the season they could finish with A 4 game losing streak and a small bowl game.

Ohio State vs Northwestern at Ryan Field, This was like a home game for Ohio State because 2/3 of the stands was Buckeye faithful. Buckeyes rolled over the Wildcats 45-10 as Beanie Wells had a nice day rushing.

Georgia Tech at North Carolina a great ACC game both teams are still in the race and UNC played great defense as they beat the Yellow Jackets 28-7 Tobacco road.

Penn State has their NC wishes burned when Iowa kicker Murray legged a 31 yard Fg to win the game and shock the Lions 24-23 in Iowa City.

Alabama survives as #1 when they beat LSU in an OT thriller 27-21 when John Parker Wilson sneaked in from 1 yard out to win in Saban’s return to Baton Rouge.

Texas Tech crushed oklahoma State 56-20 as Graham Harrell completed 40-50 passes as they may jump Bama  the # 1 spot.

Thursday night recaps: Evans rushes for school record in VT 23-13 win,Late TD seals Utah 13-10 victory

November 8, 2008 by jobrofan100

ec5bebb9-36b2-4247-b320-1aa0a25f56cc_thumbnail1 In Blacksburg Thursday night the Virginia Tech Hokies hosted the streaky Maryland Terps who has been horrendous in one game and great on the following week. Virginia Tech beat Maryland with the effort of tailback Darren Evans who rushed for a school record with 253 yards on the ground while scoring a touchdown. Virginia Tech also played tremendous defense holding the terps to 13 points on the night. Hokies came into the game without deciding who their starting quarterback would be but it ended up being Sean Glennon who was also great 14 of 20 on the night over 100 yards of passing 1 TD pass.

Hokies struck first after a missed FG by Maryland when Greg Boone took a 5 yard pass from Sean Glennon into the end zone for the first points of the game. After Maryland connected with a 41 yarder to cut the lead to 7-3 Evans responded with a 1 yard plunge to put VT up 14-3 a later FG would put them up 17-3 heading to the break.

With Virginia Tech leading 20-3 the momentum suddenly changed in the second half. Maryland got right back into the game when Chris Turner hit Darrius-Heyward-Bey for an 63 yard TD pass they got an Field goal from 27 to cut the Hokie lead to 7 points. Dustin Keys put the game away with a field goal as Virginia Tech beats NO.23 ranked Maryland Terrapins. One of the reasons that MD did not win this ball game was because they Had negative 12 yards of rushing WOWZER! _________________________________________________________________________________________________

10-0 Utah Utes survive TCU with a late TD pass with 0.48 ticks left in the game from Salt Lake City in Utah. Utah # 8 spoils a great season by TCU # 12 by a score of 13-10. Two missed field goals by Ross Evans in the second half  hurt the Horn frogs. Tcu came out gunning with Dalton as they jumped on BCS busting Utah Utes with a 10-0 lead on a Evans FG and a 3 yard TD run by Ryan Christian to top the Utes 10-0. Utah connected with a FG late in the first and another as time expired at the end of the first half to trail 10-6 into half time.

The pair of missed field goals of the boot of Ross Evans came back and stung them when Brian Johnson led Utes to a big drive to win the game. TCU gave Utah free yardage after a pass interference of 15 yards to keep the hope alive. Frogs nearly had stopped Utah facing a fourth and 5 as time ticking under a minute Brian Johson completed pass to Brown for 11 yards converting the huge fourth down play. On the 15 of the Frogs Johnson found Brown again in the end zone for the go-ahead and finally the winning touchdown.

Tcu was left with 47 seconds to go down 3 need a FG to tie TD to win. Dalton completed a few passes to drive up field but than was sniffed out on Fourth down Dalton threw a long pass down field which was picked off by Robert Johnson the fine Utah safety to seal up the victory 13-10 Utah the winners

November 7, 2008 by jobrofan100

Nate the great Davis had another super night for the Cardinals as he ripped up the Huskies defense. He only attempted 22 passes but completed 18 of the 22 for 300 yards and 4 TD thrown on the night WOW! The touchdown pass he has thrown a touchdown pass in 25 of last 26 games played.

Ball State also was successful on the ground Miquale Lewis took the ball 19 times and pounded out 119 yards on the night and had a total of 191 rushing yards. He is now over 1,100 yards of rushing on the long season.

They continued to roll IN the second half to put up 24 more points to go on and clobber Northern Illinois by a score of 45-14 Wednesday night. As the air raid of Nate Davis was to much for a banged up Husky defense Nate Davis added “The biggest thing is we’ve got to keep our heads straight.”

Ball State will look to continue for their undefeated BCS hopes when they play their second of four straight mid week games when they face Miami of Ohio who is 2-7 on the season.

Bill Stull likely to take over for Bostick vs Louisville

November 5, 2008 by jobrofan100

The return of Bill Stull who is coming off an concussion will probably start vs Louisville on Saturday which means  that Pat Bostick will be the backup quarterback once again. Bostick the sophomore quarterback out of Lancaster Pennsylvania led Pittsburgh to their two biggest wins in last two seasons at #2 WVU last season and at Notre Dame last week. Of course he wasn’t the player that won the game in South Bend but he didn’t lose the game either. Bostick was 14 for 27 in the Pitt 36-33 4 OTin last week vs the Fighting Irish.

Bill Stull commented that he is cleared to play and he will be the guy taking the snaps when Pittsburgh hosts Louisville Cardinals 12 o’clock at Heinz Field. Bill Stull is only a Junior and he has been injured twice in the last two seasons.

Miami of Ohio responded quickly with a Nathan Parseghian field goal to make the score 7-3. But Buffalo struck back when Drew Willy connected with target receiver Naaman Roosevelt  for a 34 yard score 14-3 Bulls lead.

The Red hawks didn’t go down without a fight they trailed the Bulls 21-10 at half. Miami’s Clay Belton was 17 for 30 for 178 and ran for a TD in the game before leaving the game with an injury. Back up quarterback for the Red Birds came in to finish the game and completed 8 of his 14 passes in the game.

A interesting note of the game was Both teams were given an NCAA exemption to wear their home colors for the Election Night game. Miami donned its home reds and Buffalo its traditional royal blues to reflect the 2004 election results of both school’s home states.
